Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about his phone call with US President Donald Trump and European leaders, during which there was a signal from US Special Representative Steve Whitcoff about Russia's readiness for a ceasefire.
Russia's readiness for a ceasefire
Zelensky noted that this was the first signal from Russia regarding the cessation of hostilities, which was positively received by all participants in the conversation.
'We had a call with President Trump and some European leaders. During the call, there was a signal from Mr. Whitcoff, who was also on the call, that Russia is ready to end the war, at least to take the first step towards a ceasefire. And this is their first signal,' Zelensky shared.
Additionally, during the conversation, the president stated that he is not ready to discuss the issue of Ukraine's territorial integrity, as this is a matter of the Constitution.
It is worth noting that the president previously reacted to Russia's demand to withdraw troops from the Donbas, emphasizing that this will not happen, as Russian occupiers are preparing for new offensives on the front.
