Zelensky proposes to create a unified European army

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky looked to the future of Ukraine and its security during a press conference in Kyiv on Sunday, February 23.

Zelensky proposes to create a unified European army, with Ukraine being the first step in this initiative. 'In Europe, there are security problems, which do not concern one country. Ukraine has suffered from war but has become stronger. Europeans need to invest in their own defense capabilities,' said the president.

I believe that the USA will do everything possible to end the hot phase of the war this year. But it's a slightly different format if they do not help us. That’s what I started with. Peace through strength, but not in the direction of Russia, in another direction.

The president emphasizes the need for the participation of 'broad Europe' in peace negotiations. He stated that this requires representation from all of Europe, not just the European Union. 'We need our strong partners, such as Great Britain, for this process. Europe must be present,' noted Zelensky.

Currently, assistance exists, although there was a vote for more - 15 billion, which has not yet arrived. This concerns weapons and technical means. Nothing is stopped, but nothing new has been announced.

The president does not trust security guarantees from Russia and stated that Ukraine relies on itself. 'It is impossible to conclude this war with guarantees for Ukraine this week. We have to fight for peace through strength, but not in the direction of Russia,' he added.

The president also expressed his views on the issue of Starlink and the disconnection of these systems. He noted that it would be the wrong step, as these systems are important for hospitals, schools, and other institutions. 'We pay for this, it's not free. Our partners, such as Poland and Germany, also pay for these systems,' explained Zelensky.

Recall that earlier Zelensky stated that he was ready to leave the post in exchange for security guarantees and disagreements with Trump.
