According to UATV: On June 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sat down with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during the G7 summit in France. Their talks centered on several key areas:

  • sanctions targeting Russia
  • defense collaboration
  • support for Ukraine’s energy sector
  • financing the production of Ukrainian drones

Notably, the leaders confirmed a new sanctions package aimed at over 160 entities tied to Russia’s shadow fleet.

Canada reaffirmed its commitment to assisting Ukraine with energy-related challenges. Prime Minister Carney also announced that Canada would fund the manufacturing of Ukrainian drones, underscoring a critical aspect of bilateral defense cooperation. Additionally, Ottawa confirmed its contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine.
