As a result of Russian military attacks in the Kherson region, one person has been killed and 13 have been injured. The Russian Army shelled populated areas using drones and artillery, destroying residential buildings, administrative and medical facilities, reports FREEДOM.

Details of the attacks

Today, August 31, explosions have been heard in Kherson since early morning. Around 10 AM, the Central District of the city was shelled. The hospital, administrative buildings, and many residential houses were damaged. At this time, 13 injured civilians are known, many of whom have injuries and concussions. Two people were diagnosed with mine-explosive shrapnel wounds.

'I heard a shot, there were three of us there, I managed to bend down and that's it. I have now received medical assistance. Everything was arranged in the hospital, it's alright. They stitched me, did a tomography. There is a microfracture of the skull. And my shoulder is dislocated,' says Kherson resident Maxim.

'I felt strongly that the house was shaking hard. Especially the last two. I know one from that house who was taken away by an ambulance. Because it seemed that the car was burning, and he ran out to extinguish it and got hit,' says a Kherson resident.

One of the injured is a hospital patient who was in his ward at the time of the shelling. A piece of shrapnel hit him in the stomach. All the injured are receiving medical assistance, and two men who were injured in the Ship District of the city as a result of the night shelling have also sought medical help.

'I was sleeping. It was at night. I was sleeping - he was sleeping. A little bit of debris fell on him, and a lot on me. There were still sticks lying here, they have already taken them from the window. I really don’t know how I survived. Now they are taking me to the hospital because I have a concussion,' says a resident of the damaged house.

Unfortunately, today a fatality has also been recorded. In the Dnipro District of the city, as a result of a Russian drone attack, a woman has received fatal injuries.

There is also active observation of the use of Russian drones on the M14 'Mykolaiv - Kherson' highway.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian occupation forces shelled populated areas of Kherson, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk regions on the night of August 30-31 and in the morning.

These attacks are part of a concerning trend signaling a constant risk to the civilian population in the region. In recent days, these are not the first cases of shelling, raising concerns and requiring an urgent response from state authorities and the international community. The situation remains tense, and Ukrainians continue to live under the threat that hangs over their communities.
