Verdict from the High Anti-Corruption Court

According to Espreso.tv: On July 1, 2026, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine delivered a verdict, finding the defendant guilty of incitement to offer an illegal benefit. The case involves a criminal group allegedly led by Ukrainian lawmaker Anna Skorokhod. The defendant was convicted for soliciting a $250,000 bribe, with the court applying Article 27, Part 4, and Article 369, Part 4 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.

The court handed down a five-year prison sentence, but suspended it, placing the convict on probation. Additionally, the defendant must donate 700,000 hryvnias to support Ukraine's Armed Forces through the United24 platform.

Investigation Concluded

On June 29, 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) announced the completion of their investigation into this case. Earlier, in December 2025, NABU and SAPO had formally notified the MP, her assistant, and an accomplice of their suspicion. The High Anti-Corruption Court also ordered the pre-trial detention of the MP's accomplice, underscoring the severity of the charges and the active role of law enforcement in combating corruption in Ukraine.

This case marks a key milestone in Ukraine's ongoing fight against high-level corruption. Convicting a sitting parliamentarian and her associates signals a growing resolve among law enforcement agencies and the government's commitment to improving transparency and rule of law in public administration. The probationary sentence, however, raises questions about whether the punishment fits the gravity of the crime, given the substantial bribe involved.
