Your Obligations When Updating a Passport: What the Military Recruitment Center Must Know.
Informing the Recruitment Center About Data Changes
According to Novyny.live: While citizens are not required to inform their Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC) about a new passport, they retain the right to do so. However, it is crucial to note that individuals eligible for military service must report changes to their personal data and social status to the TRC. This includes updates to marital status, place of residence, and contact numbers, and must be done within a 7-day period. Failure to comply with this requirement can result in a fine or administrative liability.
An individual who has renewed their passport and is unsure of the procedure may seek legal advice on whether to notify the TRC. According to legal expert Yuriy Aivazian, data regarding a new ID card should be automatically updated in the Register through inter-agency data exchange. For those who do not wish to wait for this automatic process or visit the TRC in person, the recommended alternative is to prepare a formal application requesting the correction of their data in the Register. This application should be sent to the TRC via Ukrposhta using a registered letter with an inventory of its contents.
The Importance of Timely Notification
In summary, while notifying the TRC about a passport change is optional, reporting other personal data updates is a mandatory obligation. This rule is essential for maintaining accurate records in state registries and avoiding potential penalties. These regulations exist within the framework of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to maintain a clear and current military register, which is vital for national defense planning. Non-compliance can lead not only to fines but also to complications in fulfilling military duties if called upon. Therefore, citizens should remain diligent in meeting their obligations to the TRC to prevent any unforeseen legal or administrative consequences.
