The rise in gas tariffs will not affect prices in stores: expert's explanation.
Impact of the rise in gas tariffs on product prices
According to ТСН: The rise in gas tariffs will impact the cost of goods in Ukraine.
Gas market analyst Mykhailo Svysh believes that such an increase 'could be a few percent, and we will not notice a direct correlation in price increases.'
The expert notes that businesses buy gas at market prices, which have decreased recently, but this does not lead to lower product prices. Thus, even if tariffs rise slightly, the situation will remain unchanged.
He also reported that 'the market price of gas is over 20 hryvnias,' and after the end of martial law, the tariff for the population will gradually increase, as a sharp increase from almost 8 hryvnias is unattainable.
Moreover, Ukrainians are warned about significant changes in gas bills starting in 2026. Although there is currently a moratorium on raising the price of gas itself for households, tariffs for its distribution—the fees for delivering from networks to consumers’ homes—will still rise.
Experts' forecasts indicate that consumers should prepare for changes in energy resource expenses. This news highlights the importance of adapting businesses and the population to new conditions of the market economy in Ukraine. The way these changes are implemented will determine the future development of the pricing situation in the goods market.
