Seven Aircraft Destroyed in Strike on Saky Airfield, Ukraine Intensifies Crimea Campaign.
Ukraine's Military Operations in Crimea
According to UATV: Ukrainian forces continue to target Russian military assets in occupied Crimea, including airfields and equipment depots, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. On July 3, 2023, they struck a railway bridge over the Krasnohvardiysk Canal, a move that could severely disrupt Russian troop logistics.
Additional attacks hit an electronic warfare station near Artemivka and an electronic intelligence unit in Sevastopol. For the second time in a week, the Security Service of Ukraine targeted the Saky airfield in Crimea, destroying seven hangars containing aircraft. Among the damaged or destroyed planes were Su-30SM and Su-30 fighters, as well as Su-24 frontline bombers. At least seven aircraft were confirmed as lost.
Russian Army Offensives and Losses
In response, the Russian army launched 55 assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions. The Kostiantynivka sector saw 14 attacks, the Slavyansk direction had 13, and the Huliaipole area experienced 9 unsuccessful attempts. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has lost 1,407,000 troops since the start of the full-scale invasion. In the past 24 hours alone, 1,250 Russian soldiers were killed.
The Security Service of Ukraine stated: 'The Security Service of Ukraine continues to fulfill the tasks set by the President of Ukraine and systematically reduce Russia's military potential.'
These actions highlight an ongoing military campaign aimed at weakening Russian armed forces in occupied territories.
As the conflict persists, analysts note that Russian leadership, according to Pavlo Lakiychuk, still hopes for a quick end to the war, telling Putin: 'In two months, we will finally force Ukraine to capitulate.' This underscores the tension and uncertainty on the front lines, where both sides are engaged in active combat.
These events reflect an escalation of the conflict in the region, particularly Ukraine's efforts to degrade Russia's military capabilities in occupied areas. Meanwhile, mounting Russian casualties point to the difficulties Moscow faces in its offensive. The future trajectory will depend on the strategies and capabilities of both sides in conducting combat operations.
