What Zelensky and the Romanian Foreign Minister discussed
During the meeting, the head of state thanked Bucharest for military, political, and logistical support, especially for the transfer of air defense systems and the decision of the Romanian Parliament to protect its own airspace from Russian drones.
'Russian shelling is a threat to the entire region, and the fair decision of the Romanian Parliament to shoot down those drones that enter Romanian airspace' - Zelensky emphasized, highlighting the importance of joint missile and drone defense.
The parties agreed to coordinate the training of Ukrainian military personnel in Romania more closely and develop energy and transport corridors in the Black Sea region.
'There are concrete proposals on how to strengthen ties and security in the Black Sea region' - the President noted, adding that Kyiv and Bucharest are considering new mechanisms to protect civilian communities near the border from air attacks.
Ukraine hopes that further expanding cooperation with Romania will strengthen the security of both countries and contribute to the region's recovery after victory.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainians have started to be turned away at the Romanian border if the vehicle does not have confirmation of technical integrity. The rule applies to both passenger cars and trucks: without a certificate of technical inspection, they are not allowed to proceed and will have to turn back.
Earlier, we also informed that the Romanian authorities are preparing to purchase the international port of Giurgiulesti, which is currently owned by the private company Danube Logistics SRL, and invest 24 million euros in its modernization.
During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky and the Romanian Foreign Minister discussed important security and cooperation issues between the countries. The discussions are aimed at strengthening the partnership between Ukraine and Romania in the context of geopolitical challenges in the Black Sea region.Read also
