Training New Unmanned Systems Crews

According to UATV: The 426th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems is actively training new aerial reconnaissance crews specializing in modern drone technology. Recruits undergo instruction in equipment preparation, monitoring, and drone control. Practical exercises take place at a training range, where they develop hands-on skills.

Meet the Crew Members

  • Among the trainees is an operator with the call sign 'Tikhyi,' who worked as a cook in Kherson before joining the military. He explains that his motivation to switch careers came from a desire to learn new technology.

“I wanted something new. Since drones represent cutting-edge tech and the latest trends in warfare, I decided to change my line of work. I found the 426th Regiment, got in touch, and transferred here.” - 'Tikhyi'
  • Another crew member, a 19-year-old soldier with the call sign 'Mavyk,' signed his first contract at age 18. He has clear future plans: “Push forward in the south, then change course toward Berdiansk. Liberate it. After that, on to Crimea.”

  • The third team member, 'Ded,' ran a family flower business in Odesa before enlisting. He credits his video game experience for helping him adapt: “The video games I played in civilian life helped a lot. You can learn. It’s very easy if you have the desire.”

In this way, the training of new crews at the 426th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems reflects a deliberate shift toward advanced military technology, which could significantly enhance aerial reconnaissance effectiveness.

This preparation of new drone operators underscores the military’s need to adapt to modern challenges, particularly the use of unmanned systems in combat operations. The growing role of drones in warfare has the potential to reshape tactics and strategy, inevitably influencing the broader regional conflict.
