5G in Ukraine: Government Launches Pilot Project.
Ukraine Launches Pilot Project for 5G Implementation
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the launch of a pilot project to utilize 5G in Ukraine. The testing will last two years and take place in three cities to check compatibility with military equipment. The project will consist of two stages and is aimed at establishing that 5G equipment does not interfere with military network operations.
According to Fedorov, 5G can transmit data 10 times faster than 4G. This project is a step toward the full implementation of 5G in Ukraine, which the government plans to complete by 2030.
The resolution will also provide more flexibility to operators, allowing them to use 2100 MHz frequencies not only for 3G but also for 2G or 4G technologies. Additionally, freeing up frequencies of 694-862 MHz, which were used for analog and digital television, will allow them to be used for mobile communication. Fedorov also noted that the government continues to take measures to ensure quality communication despite the full-scale war.
Recall that last week, Ukraine conducted its first test launch of the 5G network. The Promprylad innovation center in Ivano-Frankivsk, the Vodafone office in Kyiv, and the Nokia office in Helsinki successfully tested the connection.
Moreover, it is worth noting that the application "Diia" has been recognized as one of the best inventions in the world in the category of applications and software according to Time magazine.
