How 60 Ukrainians Were Rescued from Occupied Territories and Russia: The Evacuation Story.
Rescuing Ukrainians from Russian-Occupied Areas
According to UATV: Since March 2026, a total of 60 Ukrainians have managed to leave temporarily occupied territories and Russia, thanks to the support of the Ombudsman's Office. Among them are individuals with limited mobility and those suffering from severe illnesses who urgently needed medical care. Dmytro Lubinets announced this significant development on June 8, 2023, noting that the transfers were facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
This evacuation effort is part of a broader mission to assist people enduring extreme hardships. In 2025, a Ukrainian soldier was also returned from Russian captivity, highlighting ongoing efforts to protect the rights of Ukrainians in dire situations.
'Due to the consequences of torture and severe health issues, this Ukrainian has effectively lost the ability to move independently and requires urgent treatment.' Dmytro Lubinets
A crucial aspect of the evacuation involved reuniting family members of those who had already left occupied areas. 'The next challenge was bringing his parents out of occupation. Through joint efforts, we managed to organize their safe departure and finally reunite the family,' Lubinets added. This story underscores the importance of solidarity and support in helping people rebuild their lives after trauma.
