If you dream of installing an individual gas boiler in your apartment and giving up centralized heating, it is possible, but under certain conditions. The installation process requires Time, patience, and financial resources.

Ukrainian legislation has limited the ability of residents of high-rise buildings to install autonomous heating, unlike in the mid-2000s when there was a mass transition to individual systems, reports the channel 'Gazpravda'.

Who can install an individual gas boiler

The following conditions must be met to install autonomous gas heating in a high-rise building:

• Your locality, district, street, or house is officially not connected to centralized heating (for example, all of the Transcarpathian region and some cities in other regions of Ukraine).
• In your house with centralized heating, half or more of the apartments have already been officially disconnected from the general networks and are heated autonomously.
• Your apartment is located no higher than the 10th floor.

Stages of installing individual heating

Obtaining permission from the city or village council. This decision is made at a session, which in some localities occurs only once a month.

Contacting the management company of the house (housing maintenance organization or another organization) to obtain technical conditions for disconnection from the central network or a certificate of the absence of centralized heating.

Contacting the gas distribution company (gas network branch or city gas) with the necessary documents.

A visit from a gas technician for an inspection of the premises where the boiler is planned to be installed. The specialist will provide comments on the necessary changes and the feasibility of installation in the chosen location.

Signing documents and receiving payment notices for issuing technical connection conditions (approximately 3,000 UAH) and the development of project documentation (5-6,000 UAH).

Development of the gas heating project by the gas distribution company, which takes from 2-3 weeks to a month.

Payment for the construction of the internal gas supply network. Amounts vary depending on the characteristics of the building, minimum of 5,000 UAH.

Carrying out construction and installation work for approximately 30 days after payment.

Installation of the gas boiler and radiators by a separately hired team (not included in the cost of previous work).

Technical supervision by the gas distribution company's inspector (about 1,000 UAH). At this stage, the object must be fully ready for operation.

Important nuances

• Disconnection from centralized heating or hot water supply is only carried out during the off-heating period.
• The boiler should be purchased only after obtaining the completed project, as its type will depend on the specifics of the gas communication of the building.
• The total cost of the process is about 15,000 UAH excluding the cost of the boiler, radiators, and installation work.
• Due to the mobilization of gas company personnel and their involvement in the elimination of the consequences of enemy shelling, the arrangement of the autonomous gas heating system may take no less than three months.

Experts from 'Gazpravda' recommend planning the installation process of autonomous heating for the spring-summer period to have enough time to carry out all stages.
