Albania to Ban TikTok Over Incitement of Violence Among Children.
The Albanian government has decided to suspend the operation of the TikTok platform for one year due to allegations of inciting violence and bullying, particularly among children. This is reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Associated Press.
Education Minister Ogerta Manastirliu noted that Albania is working with TikTok to establish parental control filters, verify users' ages, and add the Albanian language to the app.
1,300 meetings were held by state officials with about 65,000 parents who support closing or restricting TikTok.
After one teenager killed another following a quarrel that started on TikTok, the Albanian cabinet decided to ban the Chinese platform until 2024.
Elon Musk stated that he has no interest in acquiring the Chinese video hosting service TikTok.
Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed a desire for Elon Musk to become the owner of TikTok.
Trump signed an order that delays the TikTok ban for 75 days, which was set to take effect on January 19. Thus, TikTok received an additional 75 days to seek a new owner.
