According to Novyny.live: Apple has announced a major update for its Podcasts app, introducing an integrated video experience set to launch in spring 2024. Research indicates a growing audience for this format, with 37% of people aged 12 and older watching video podcasts every month.
While Apple Podcasts has technically supported video via RSS feeds since 2005, the new update will add support for HLS (HTTP Live Streaming). This technology promises to deliver significantly improved video quality and streaming stability. In a bid to attract creators, Apple stated it will not charge fees to authors or hosting providers for content distribution on the new service.
Intensifying Competition in the Podcast Arena
Apple plans to generate revenue by taking a commission from affiliated advertising networks for ad impressions served through its platform. The company also released an urgent iOS 26.3 update, signaling its ongoing commitment to product refinement.
