Drone Strike Hits Tyumen Oil Refinery: Explosions Reported, Staff Evacuated.
Drone Attack on the Tyumen Oil Refinery
According to Espreso.tv: On June 20, a drone assault targeted the Tyumen Oil Refinery in Russia's Tyumen Oblast, as confirmed by the regional governor. While no damage was officially reported, witnesses in the Antipino district described at least two explosions and visible smoke rising from the site. In response, plant personnel were evacuated, and operations at Tyumen Airport were temporarily restricted.
About the Refinery
This facility has an annual processing capacity of approximately 8 million tons of crude oil and achieves a refining depth of up to 98%. Its production portfolio includes:
- Euro-5 diesel fuel,
- gasoline components,
- petroleum coke,
- bitumen and fuel oil.
Located roughly 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine, the refinery was previously attacked in the fall of 2025. Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil infrastructure during 2024–2025 have already resulted in the loss of hundreds of tons of fuel.
This incident is part of a broader escalation in drone attacks on Russian energy assets, which could have significant implications for regional energy security. Such strikes pose risks to fuel supply chains and the economic stability of Russia, given the critical role of its oil refining industry.
