Odesa Grapples with Aftermath of Drone Attack

According to Novyny.live: A nighttime drone attack by Russian forces has left tens of thousands of residents in Odesa without essential utilities. Two civilians were injured in the strike, with one reported to be in serious condition. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the situation, stressing the urgent need for a response from international partners.

The assault caused widespread power outages across parts of the city, severely disrupting daily life. To assist residents, city authorities have organized the delivery of technical water to several affected districts. Repair efforts are ongoing, but the situation remains challenging for now.

Zelenskyy stated: 'Tens of thousands of people in Odesa are without heating and water following the drone strike. All necessary services are working to provide assistance.'

Among the districts impacted by the attack are:

  • Hadzhibeiskyi District: streets including Yevhena Tantsiura, Vadaturskoho, Filatova, Melnytska, and Buhaivska;
  • Kyivskyi District: streets including Liustdorfska Road, Akademika Korolova, Yaroslav Mudryi, Naukova, and Varnenska;
  • Primorskyi District: the situation is critical on Seminary and Mala Arnautska streets.

The city continues to work on restoring services, but the severity of the damage underscores a growing need for international support. This incident is part of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has been marked by repeated strikes on civilian infrastructure. The international community's response is crucial for aiding recovery and providing humanitarian assistance to affected populations. Attacks on key port cities like Odesa have significant implications for regional stability and global food security.
