Russian attacks cut power in five Ukrainian regions as electricity demand rises nearly 3%.
Energy Supply Situation in Ukraine
According to Espreso.tv: Fresh power outages have been reported in several Ukrainian regions following drone and artillery strikes. As of 9:30 a.m. on May 27, electricity consumption had increased by 2.9% compared to the previous day. This surge in demand comes amid ongoing assaults on the country's energy infrastructure.
A daily peak in power usage was recorded on the evening of May 26, matching the level seen on May 25.
Regions Affected by New Blackouts
The areas experiencing new power cuts include:
- Donetsk
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy
- Kharkiv
The energy supply situation remains tense, driven by both rising consumption and external pressures.
These blackouts highlight the vulnerability of Ukraine's power grid during wartime. Persistent attacks on infrastructure have forced authorities to impose consumption limits, posing serious risks for households and industry. If demand continues to climb or further strikes hit energy facilities, the crisis could deepen, requiring additional measures to stabilize the power supply.
