Emergency services on the Stubai Glacier
According to The Sun: Rescuers rush to help on the Austrian Stubai Glacier after a powerful avalanche that swept down the mountain on Thursday morning, engulfing skiers and leaving a vast field of debris in its wake.
The avalanche struck without warning at around 9:30 AM, carrying everything in its path through open terrain near the Daunsharte Pass - a notorious hazardous area.
“It was an extremely strong avalanche, and we are seriously concerned about possible casualties,”rescuers reported.
At this time, rescue operations are ongoing, with teams working around the clock to locate those affected.
The situation remains tense, and rescuers are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of everyone still on the glacier. Authorities are urging visitors to be cautious and refrain from hiking in dangerous areas while rescue operations are underway.
