Euro banknotes to change: what will appear on the popular currency.

The European Central Bank (ECB) intends to change the design of euro banknotes to add graphic elements related to Poland. The main goal of the changes is to make the currency more understandable and accessible to all citizens of Europe. This was reported by ECB President Christine Lagarde.

This will be the first update to the design of banknotes since the creation of the euro. Currently, the currency symbolizes the overall European architectural heritage, but the new design will replace this symbolism. The new banknotes will feature images of European fauna or portraits of prominent European figures.

The ECB conducted consultations with citizens, member states, bankers, and traders to discuss the proposed changes. Banknotes in the denomination of 500 euros will remain unchanged as they are gradually being phased out due to concerns over illegal activities. The selection of European figures to be depicted on banknotes has become a subject of discussion, as it currently represents only 6 out of the 20 eurozone countries.
