Hamas Militants Refuse Ceasefire and Hostage Release

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reported that Hamas militants have not agreed to a short-term ceasefire and the release of four hostages in the Gaza Strip.

This proposal was earlier put forward by Egypt, as noted in the RBK-Ukraine report, citing the State Department.

Yesterday, Antony Blinken spoke with Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati about the situation in the Middle East.

The Secretary of State emphasized the importance of ending the war in Gaza, ensuring the release of all hostages, and increasing and stabilizing the delivery of humanitarian aid

However, Blinken pointed out that Hamas "refused to release even a limited number of hostages to achieve a ceasefire and provide assistance to Gaza residents," the U.S. State Department reported.

He also discussed the importance of creating a path for the post-conflict period that ensures governance, security, and recovery
