A married father, who had recently celebrated his birthday, jumped in Boituva, São Paulo, Brazil, on August 29.

After a rough landing, Marcelo was urgently taken to the hospital; unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save him.

The reasons for the experienced skydiver's sudden change in direction remain unclear. It is possible he lost control of one of the parachute's handles.

Marcelo celebrated his birthday just days before the tragedy. As a lawyer and managing partner of a law firm in São Paulo, he was an adrenaline enthusiast.

Holding a category D license, he had completed over 2000 jumps. His close friend Douglas Gomes recalls:

“He was obsessed with skydiving and participated in all the competitions he could.”

 

“Adrenaline, freedom - that is what Marcelo meant,' he added.

 

“He was always there for his friends in both happy and difficult times.”

Marcelo's death has caused a wave of sympathy among his friends and family. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
