New map indicates Putin's ambitions regarding Ukraine

According to The Sun: A shocking map has appeared on the wall behind Putin's generals, showcasing his plans for seizing Ukrainian territory. Two new areas are marked as Russian - an unprecedented sight on Kremlin maps.

Areas under Russian control

Earlier, four Ukrainian regions—Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson—were already highlighted on Kremlin maps. However, during a military meeting at the Moscow Ministry of Defense, the territory expanded again: Mykolaiv and Odesa regions were added to Russian lands. This is confirmed by the new map showing that the border has shifted and Russia is making new claims to parts of Ukraine.

Yaroslav Trofimov, chief correspondent for the Wall Street Journal, noted that the map “likely reflects Russia's military objectives in Ukraine, encompassing half the country, including Kharkiv and Odesa.”

“The entire southeastern part of Ukraine has always been pro-Russian, as these are historically Russian territories”

It also became known that Putin intends to secure control over the Black Sea coast of Ukraine. He emphasized:

“Odesa region is a Russian city. We know this. Everyone knows it.”

Russian forces and peace negotiations

If the new borders come to fruition, Russia will control the entire Black Sea coast of Ukraine and establish a new international border with Moldova. Such ambitions contradict Putin's statements about peace negotiations, in which he proposed the freezing of the front line in exchange for territories in Donbas.

Most likely, Putin will not limit himself to just Donbas. His plans likely include a new front line, as his foreign ministry has put forward ultimatum demands that are impossible to fulfill, including complete demilitarization of Ukraine and cutting all military ties with the West. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted:

“We proceed from the assumption that the agreement must include demilitarization, denazification, a neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status for Ukraine.”

These events indicate that Putin has no intention of sitting down at the negotiating table with Volodymyr Zelensky anytime soon, raising tensions on the front.

The international community, responding to these changes, continues to monitor the situation, as these actions may significantly impact further negotiations and security in Ukraine and its surroundings. Considering the complexity of the situation, it is crucial to closely observe events that may become significant for regional stability.
