According to The Sun: A 31-year-old British tourist died in Benidorm after reportedly jumping into the sea with two friends for an evening swim.

From the police report

Investigators reported: “Yesterday around 8 PM, several British nationals were at Levante beach in Benidorm. One of them entered the sea and could not return to shore.

“Several people tried to save him, but it was too difficult.”

They added: “The coast guard was called, but they were unable to find him. Later, his body was washed ashore.

“At that moment, he was already deceased.”

Tragic footage from the scene showed locals and tourists surrounding the police who responded to the situation. Strong waves were crashing onto the shore, indicating tumultuous sea conditions.

Investigation and statements

The man's death was confirmed by one of the officers, noting that it was a “suspected drowning.”

He also added that the investigation is ongoing and there are currently no suspicions of criminal activity.

A source in the Benidorm city administration indicated: “It appears that this man entered the sea and could not make it back.

“Currently, the rescue service has concluded its work.”

Another informant added: “We believe that this man was a tourist. He was with two friends. They got out of the water, but he remained in the sea and drifted away from the shore.”

This tragedy occurred after another British tourist, Jeff Duffield, was found dead on the beach in Benidorm in April.
