The UK is ready to act after Trump’s statement

According to The Sun: The United Kingdom has confirmed its readiness to take action after Donald Trump called on NATO to shoot down Russian aircraft in the event of a violation of European airspace. This was stated by Yvette Cooper.

The Foreign Secretary pointed to “provocative and irresponsible” actions by Moscow in her speech at the UN meeting.

Cooper noted at the UN meeting:

“The security of Ukraine is our security, and we all depend on adhering to the UN Charter.”

“Russia’s actions seek to undermine democracy, provoke conflicts, and spread instability beyond the borders of Europe,” she added.

Cooper also addressed Putin directly, warning that “his irresponsible actions risk leading to direct armed confrontation between NATO and Russia.”

She emphasized:

“Don’t be under any illusions. We are ready to take all necessary measures to defend NATO’s skies and territory.”

This came after Trump called on NATO countries to “shoot down” invading Russian aircraft, stating that member states “should not hesitate” in the case of incursions.

When asked whether Washington would support military action, he remained noncommittal: “It depends on the circumstances,” Trump said.

These statements came after a dramatic incursion of Russian MiG-31 fighters into Estonian airspace.

The planes were “boldly” in Estonian skies for 12 minutes, ignoring warnings from Italian F-35 fighters which were scrambled from Amari Air Base.

This was the fourth incident this year and prompted urgent discussion within NATO.

Estonia described the flights as “unprecedentedly brazen,” and Prime Minister Kristen Michal expressed outrage: 'Such violations are completely unacceptable.'

NATO also condemned this violation, calling it “part of a broader pattern of increasingly irresponsible Russian behavior.”

NATO warned: “Russia should have no doubts: NATO and its allies will use all necessary military and non-military means, in accordance with international law, to protect themselves and deter all threats from all sides.”

“We are vigilant. We are resolute. And if we need to confront aircraft operating in NATO airspace without permission, we will do so,”

During the UN discussion, Trump appeared to change his position on Ukraine, supporting the country’s restoration of all its territories.

The president emphasized in a post on Truth Social that Moscow is a “paper tiger” and supported Ukraine in regaining its territories.

In his post, Trump stated:

“I believe Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is capable of coming back and WINNING all of Ukraine in its original form.”

He also mentioned that his relationship with the Russian leader “was of no importance” after talks with Zelensky at the UN.

After a bilateral meeting, Zelensky stated that Trump would provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the war.

Zelensky commented that Trump’s statement regarding the war in Ukraine represents “a significant shift” from his previous position that Kyiv should give up territories for peace.

Trump asserted that Ukraine would likely have to give up part of its territory to end the war.

Trump also stated in interviews and during campaign events that he could reach a peace agreement within 24 hours by sitting down with Putin and Zelensky.

He noted that Kyiv “must give up part of its territory” in exchange for stopping the shooting.

Last night, one of Russia's largest oil refineries was attacked by Ukrainian drones, marking the second such attack in a few days.

Ukraine has ramped up its attacks on large oil and gas facilities in Russia, trying to halt Putin’s war as peace talks with Moscow remain stalled.

“With time, patience, and financial support from Europe and, in particular, NATO, a return to the original borders from which this war began is quite possible,”

Johnson's call to action

Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, Boris Johnson called for the UK to send troops to Ukraine immediately – with or without a ceasefire.

He emphasized that only Ukraine has the right to decide which troops will be welcomed on its territory, not Moscow.

The UK and France have joined forces with allies to deploy “reinforcement troops” in case of a ceasefire with Russia.

The former Prime Minister stated: “If they really want it, why don’t we send them there right now? Ukrainians must decide which foreign troops come to their country.”

He also called on allies to lift restrictions on supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition “Unyielding Ukraine” in London, he criticized Germany for not supplying Kyiv with its Taurus cruise missiles.

Johnson also lashed out at the Labour government for buying Russian uranium.

In his words, he asked: “Why are we still buying uranium from Russia?”

PA AP These events occur against the backdrop of rising tensions between Russia and NATO countries. Following numerous provocations by Russia, the firmness of the UK's and other Western nations' positions may significantly influence the situation in the region. At the same time, calls for military support for Ukraine from European leaders show their desire to actively confront Moscow's aggression.
