British Trump ally Farage sharply changed his position on Ukraine's NATO membership.
Key British ally of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage, stated that Ukraine's accession to NATO is 'probably necessary'. This was reported by Politico, citing a press conference in London and an evening broadcast on GB News.
This statement came on the same day that U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset excluded Ukraine's NATO membership and emphasized that Europe 'should provide the bulk of future lethal and non-lethal aid to Ukraine'. Hegset also noted that American troops would not participate in peacekeeping operations.
If we can bring Putin and Zelensky to sensible negotiations, I believe that in the long run, Ukraine's accession to NATO is almost a necessary part of the peace agreement
Previously, Farage criticized NATO's eastward expansion, arguing that it allowed Putin to justify the invasion. 'We provoked this war,' he said during last year's election campaign, adding: 'Of course, it is his [Putin's] fault. He used what we did.'
Let us remind you, NATO Secretary General reacted to Trump's phone call with Putin.
