Commemorating the Carpathian Ukraine Declaration

According to Novyny.live: On March 15, 1939, the independence of Carpathian Ukraine was proclaimed in Khust. This event holds significant weight for Ukrainian statehood and the current fight for freedom. Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, highlighted this anniversary, stressing that at that time, Ukrainians in Transcarpathia made their choice—opting for struggle and liberty.

'On March 15, 1939, the independence of Carpathian Ukraine was declared in Khust. While a larger Europe stood frozen, anticipating disaster, the Ukrainians of Transcarpathia had already made their choice—struggle and freedom,' stated Kyrylo Budanov.

Additionally, March 14 was observed in Ukraine as Volunteer Day, another important element tied to national consciousness and patriotism. In this context, Budanov also congratulated the Third Army Corps on its founding anniversary. His remarks reflect a deep understanding of historical lessons that remain vital for Ukrainians today.

'History teaches us: the silence of the civilized world is oxygen for dictators. And our main security guarantee is our own weapons and our own army. Ukraine begins where people are ready to fight for it. We remember the lessons of the past. We fight for the future,' said Kyrylo Budanov.

Thus, the anniversary of Carpathian Ukraine’s independence and Volunteer Day serve as crucial reminders of the Ukrainian people’s historical traditions of fighting for freedom and sovereignty.

This anniversary underscores the importance of historical memory for modern Ukraine, where the struggle for independence remains urgent. At the same time, observing Volunteer Day emphasizes the value of patriotism and citizens’ readiness to defend their country—especially relevant amid today’s challenges. These events are not just a nod to the past but also a call to action in the present.
