The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, claims that by 2025, Ukraine and Russia will likely experience a cessation of hostilities. However, he expresses doubts about the duration and effectiveness of such a truce.
«You know, it is a paradoxical situation. Despite the fact that the starting positions of the parties are very different from each other, I believe that this year we will achieve a cessation of hostilities. How long it will last and how effective the truce will be is another question. But I believe that it will happen. We have all the conditions for this», - said Budanov.
However, the head of the GUR is confident that the introduction of peacekeeping troops cannot guarantee security for Ukraine.
«Show me at least one country in the world where the introduction of peacekeepers actually worked... Perhaps such cases do exist, but I am not aware of them. I have researched many examples - nowhere», - Budanov added.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that there is every chance to end the war in 2025, so it is entirely realistic.
According to a survey on the 'Glavkom' website from December 30, 2024, more than half of the respondents do not believe that a truce with Russia will occur in 2025.
