Sappers on the front line: how they clear the area of mines under shelling.
According to ТСН: The sappers of the 783rd Separate Brigade of Operational Equipment carry out their tasks at a distance of several kilometers from the front line in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk directions.
Departure in the dark
On a dark night, the unit prepares for departure, using flashlights. The briefing takes place during breakfast:
"The area is dangerous, we need to get in quickly, teapots, the bugs are flying around."
The road to the destination turns out to be a real test, as burnt cars line the way despite protective nets.
Sapper 'Galich':
"Nets only protect against FPV. 'Lancet' or 'Molniya' hit directly. The enemy's activity has been very high over the past month."
'50-meter corridor' and detectors
The main task of the sappers is to inspect the area for the further work of heavy machinery. They move carefully, paying attention to every detail.
"Look at the sky. The corridor is about 50 meters. We use detectors to avoid stepping on anything," says the group leader.
The sappers find ordinary insulation tape in the grass.
"These are the first signs that there may have been some mining here,"the fighters explain. Soon the detector starts beeping.
Findings: from grenades to 'zucchini'
In the grass, the sappers discover a Russian drone. 'Life':
"I see an FPV lying in the grass two meters away from me. Well, little one, it's your turn to be destroyed... There's one 'zucchini' to be destroyed."
Overall, many dangerous items are found in the area.
Driver-sapper 'Gribok':
"Today we found a shot shell for a grenade launcher, modified for dropping, a cumulative submunition, and a fuze for the MLRS."
Attack from the sky and remote mining
Work is suddenly interrupted by the shout "Air!". The enemy has detected the group and sent a kamikaze drone. After a short fight, the drone was shot down, but the group urgently needs to change locations to avoid repeated attacks.
Even previously checked areas have to be examined again, as the enemy often mines them remotely at night.
Serhiy Morozov, excavator operator:
"We worked one day, and the next morning found scattered infantry 'petals'. The sappers arrived and removed them."
Results despite risks
While the excavator performs its tasks, the sappers notice a suspicious "little plane" in the field - it has to be pulled with a "cat" to ensure it won't explode.
Despite the minute risks, the State Special Transport Service continues its work. As of today, they have created:
over 2 thousand strongholds;
thousands of kilometers of anti-tank ditches;
barrier pyramids.
This activity demonstrates the extraordinary courage and professionalism of Ukrainian sappers, who tirelessly work in dangerous conditions to save lives. They not only clear areas but also ensure safety for military and civilians moving along these routes. With each successfully completed task, their work makes our land a little safer.
