However, this is not surprising since many large enterprises and headquarters of international companies are concentrated in the Kyiv region. In addition, the region holds leading positions in both freight and passenger transportation. The freight turnover of the region in 2018 amounted to 11.4 million tons, while the passenger traffic of the country's main airports Boryspil and Sikorsky (Zhulyany) reached 12.6 and 2.8 million people, respectively.

The Kyiv region does not share land borders with neighboring countries. However, it is traversed by international highways M-01, M-03, M-05, and M-06, connecting the region with adjacent countries of Western Europe and the CIS, as well as with transport corridors in the Black Sea.

Foreign Investments and Development Prospects

One of the largest foreign investment enterprises in the region is the Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine plant, which produces non-alcoholic beverages and belongs to the Coca-Cola corporation.

Since 2017, the European Protein Ukraine company has started working in the Kyiv region with a feed mill, along with Flylights Factory, an electronics manufacturing plant.

The export volume per capita in the region is almost equal to the national average of Ukraine. The gross regional product per capita is 1.3 times higher than the national average, and the salary level in the region is only 5% lower than the average in Ukraine.

The Kyiv region plays an important role in Ukraine's economy as a center of entrepreneurship, a transport hub, and an object of investment interest from foreign companies. Due to its geographical location and developed infrastructure, the region has every chance to continue attracting new investments and developing in the future.
