The funeral ceremony for Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign Rif, who was killed by Russians in April 2022 in Donetsk region, took place on March 19 at the mosque of the Crimean Tatar cultural center 'Yednist' (Birlik). Before his death, Russian soldiers brutally tortured the sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to QIRIM.News.
The funeral prayer was attended by the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, Mejlis member Riza Shevkiyev, servicemen, representatives of the Crimean Tatar community, relatives, and loved ones of Sergeant Rif.
According to Refat Chubarov, Rif was born in Uzbekistan, where his family was deported. After the Russian annexation of Crimea, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and participated in combat operations in eastern Ukraine for nearly six years.
With the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Rif was captured by Russian soldiers, where he suffered inhumane torture and was killed. His wife made efforts over these years to recover the body for burial according to Muslim traditions.
The burial of the Crimean Tatar fighter took place at a cemetery in Kyiv region.
