Massive military drills involving Russian children

According to The Sun: In Russia, alarming military drills are taking place involving children armed with Kalashnikov automatic rifles and grenades. Over 80 children, some as young as eight, have been training for a week, crawling through sand and shooting ammunition while Vladimir Putin prepares his next generation of soldiers.

Among the 83 children who are still minors, many were dressed in military uniforms during the 'route march' in southern Russia.

This summer camp took place along the banks of the Don River, where the group of cadets worked with real weapons and received genuine military training.

The children performed exercises such as running in circles, crawling on the ground, and crossing shallow water—all while holding dangerous weapons.

Teachers and military instructors

The boys and girls were armed with real rifles, while others received toy versions. The summer camp in Rostov region, near the Ukrainian border, was organized by veterans who fought in Ukraine.

Military instructors observing the sessions commanded the children, encouraging them. One of the youngest participants, eight-year-old Ivan Glushchenko, even had the chance to hold a real military weapon.

“My favorite part of the course is how we threw grenades and shot with replicas,” he replied.

This joy was evident in older children, who are approaching enlistment age. Teenager Anton stated: “Why am I here? Because I want to tie my future to military service. I want to serve my country and be loyal to my cause until the end.”

Critics of this initiative point to the propagandistic undertone of the drills, viewing them as support for Russia's illegal aggression against Ukraine.

“Patriotic training is very important,” said instructor Vladimir Yanenko.

The normalization of military drills among children raises concerns that this could be part of a broader plan by Putin to brainwash the younger generation for military recruitment.

In schools, children are forced to listen to lessons on the topic “Conversations about important things,” which glorify self-sacrifice for the homeland.

This course was introduced in September 2022, eight months after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In September 2023, Russian schools received new history textbooks that praise Russia while excluding criticism of Stalin and portraying the West as aggressors.

This situation raises concerns among the international community, as the use of military drills to indoctrinate youth could have serious consequences for future generations. Society must remain vigilant and raise questions about the ethics of such practices.
