Russia is incapable of capturing Zaporizhzhia: the military explained the reasons.

Lack of preparation among the invaders

The head of the communications department of the 118th separate mechanized brigade, Dmytro Pelykh, noted during the Morning.LIVE broadcast:

According to him, even in smaller directions, such as near Stepnohirsk and adjacent settlements, the invaders are unable to fully capture territories. The reasons for this are a shortage and low quality of personnel, weak training, and lack of motivation.

Small progress by the Russians

“As of the end of 2025, the Russians have only managed to capture 2% of the territory — this is from 2022. Despite the fact that active combat operations have been ongoing here for three years, the result is quite insignificant,” the military emphasized.

Pelykh also noted that the advance from the side of Vasilivka no longer provides the Russians with a tactical advantage due to large losses.

The situation in Huliaipole

Part of the city of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region is under the control of the Russian army. The Russians have a significant advantage in manpower and armament, however, the city remains unconquered. The defense forces continue to hold the line. Despite significant losses, the enemy is trying to displace Ukrainian troops from their positions.

Spokesman for the southern defense forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, confirmed that the invaders have intensified offensive actions in the south and are trying to break through to Stepnohirsk. The occupiers are implementing a tactic of constant infiltration of small groups through the main access roads to this settlement.

These events indicate that the struggle for the Zaporizhzhia region continues, and the positions of the Ukrainian military remain strong. Despite the enemy's efforts, the situation in the region remains controlled, allowing the Ukrainian forces to strengthen their positions and continue their defense.
