Limited fitness for military registration: why they cannot become conscripts.
The first status of citizens aged 16-17 in military registration
When young citizens aged 16-17 become liable for military service, they acquire the status of conscripts. However, if a boy or girl has limited fitness for military service, he loses the opportunity to be a conscript.
This was on the site 'Yuristi.UA'.
Irreversible procedure
A citizen sought help from lawyers: her son was registered for military service at the age of 16 as limited fit for military service. Later, his status was changed to 'fit', and now he is not restricted by any conditions.
The lady was interested in whether it is possible to change her 17-year-old son's status from liable for military service to conscript according to his new age.
'Unfortunately, this procedure is irreversible. If your son was previously recognized as limited fit, he remains liable for military service', — emphasized in the response by lawyer Yuriy Ayvazyan.
Changes in military registration in May 2024
Another lawyer, Vladislav Deryi, supported his colleague and emphasized that this norm is effective based on the Law 'On Military Duty and Military Service' dated 04.04.2024.
If the boy underwent a medical examination before May 2024 and was initially recognized as limited fit, he was legally included in military registration as liable for military service.
Therefore, it is impossible to return to the status of 'conscript'.
We remind you that we previously wrote about conscripts.
We also reported that of summonses.
Summary: Ukrainian citizens aged 16-17 who enter military registration can have the status of conscript or liable for military service depending on the results of a medical examination. If a person is limited fit for military service, they will not be able to become a conscript. The procedure for changing the status is irreversible, which is important to consider in the future.Read also
