Strengthening Air Defense Remains Top Priority, Zelensky Says After Overnight Russian Attack.
Strikes Against Civilian Infrastructure in Ukraine
According to UATV: In the early hours of July 13, Russia launched attacks targeting civilian sites across Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky responded by urging international partners to speed up deliveries of weapons and air defense systems, stressing that bolstering protection against aerial assaults is still Ukraine’s greatest challenge.
The shelling in the Kherson region left eight civilians wounded. Russian forces used artillery and drones to hit populated areas. Commenting on the assault, Zelensky stated:
“Today, the Russians once again 'defeated' purely civilian targets”highlighting the direct threat to the population.
International Support and Ukraine’s Defense Capabilities
The president also expressed confidence that
“pressure on Russia must work”, underscoring the role of global backing in countering the aggressor. These events reflect ongoing regional tensions and the urgent need to reinforce Ukraine’s defenses amid relentless Russian attacks.
The repeated targeting of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine once again underscores how critical international support is for the country’s security. Zelensky’s calls for more weapons and air defense systems point to a pressing need to strengthen Ukraine’s military capabilities. Continued Russian aggression endangers the lives of ordinary citizens and demands swift action from the global community to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty.
