Russia showed Oreshnik in Belarus: Expert explained what is actually in the footage

According to ТСН: Russia and Belarus published a video claiming to demonstrate the start of combat duty of the missile complex "Oreshnik" on the territory of Belarus. However, the footage only shows support vehicles, not the complex itself. This does not mean that the "Oreshnik" is absent in the country.

Expert's Commentary

The chief editor of Defense Express, Oleg Katkov, explained this situation in a program on the Kyiv24 channel. He noted:

"What was shown, at least by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Belarus, they released the same story, the same footage, and Oreshnik is not present in them".

Military Equipment in the Video

The expert talked about the equipment that appeared in the video:

"This is an announcement about the beginning of combat duty, and it features three vehicles. The first vehicle that drives is a security vehicle. It is a "Typhoon-U" based on "Ural". This is a communication vehicle...

According to him, the third vehicle is a support complex for combat duty, which can be described as a dining facility with beds for personnel.

Personnel Count

The video shows about 70 people, although

this is not even the standard number of personnel needed to provide the entire complex
. The "Oreshnik" consists of more than just one launch vehicle.

Composition of the Oreshnik Complex

Katkov explained that the complex typically includes several launch vehicles, command vehicles, communication vehicles, support vehicles, transport-loading vehicles, and engineering equipment. "And in reality, at least in this public story, and this is an important point: the Russian Federation always emphasizes its combat capabilities. Therefore, if there was indeed a launch vehicle and more machines, they would definitely show that. But they only showed what was available.

This does not mean that the "Oreshnik" is 100% absent there
"

Katkov also did not rule out the possibility that the complex may indeed be on the territory of Belarus, although he considers it unlikely. According to him, based on data from Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, currently there is only one missile for the "Oreshnik" complex in Russia.

Recall that on December 30, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Belarus announced that the "Oreshnik" complex officially entered combat duty in Belarus. They also showed a video from the ceremonial event, noting that the personnel underwent retraining and is mastering patrol areas. In Minsk, it was reported that the complex, capable of operating at ranges of up to 5000 km, can use both conventional and special warheads.

This situation indicates an intensification of military presence in the region and the continuation of military cooperation between Russia and Belarus. Although the results of the shown videos leave more questions than answers, it reflects the tension in relations and readiness for increased military activity in the near future.
