Roman Abramovich's Trip to Kyiv
According to Espreso.tv: Journalist Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolaeva discussed the visit of Russian businessman Roman Abramovich to Kyiv, which took place as part of delivering peace terms from Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed this information on June 8, noting that the issue discussed concerned Donbas. Abramovich's mission was an attempt at reconciliation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolaeva noted that information about Abramovich's visit came directly from Vladimir Putin.
“We learned from Vladimir Putin himself that a mysterious Russian businessman came to Kyiv to essentially pressure the Ukrainian president into a peace deal,” the journalist said. She also recalled that even American colleagues and Ukraine's partners believed in this idea for some time.
Ukrainian Government's Response
Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian authorities do not intend to agree to any options that contradict national interests.
“So I am glad that the president stood his ground and said we will not go for such an option,” added Danylyuk-Yarmolaeva, commenting on the Ukrainian government's reaction to the Russian businessman's visit.
It is worth noting that Roman Abramovich is a Russian businessman who avoided US sanctions, which adds extra intrigue to his role in international negotiations. Discussions about the possible consequences of this visit and the Ukrainian government's reaction remain relevant topics for further analysis.
Abramovich’s trip to Kyiv underscores the complexity of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Russia, especially in the context of the war in Donbas. The Ukrainian authorities' firm stance on national interests reflects their commitment to preserving the country's sovereignty and independence. The next steps taken by both sides could shape the negotiation process and influence the security situation in the region.
