Zelensky on the War's Finale: Europe Can Negotiate with Russia

According to ТСН: President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukraine is approaching the final stage of the war and does not rule out the possibility of European leaders dialoguing with the Kremlin. The main condition for such negotiations is Vladimir Putin's awareness of the seriousness of the situation, especially against the backdrop of pressure from the US and discussions about new security guarantees for Ukraine.

In his interview with Bloomberg, Zelensky emphasized that Europe's position in this process is becoming increasingly important. European countries are actively discussing providing real security guarantees to Ukraine. The president believes that this step, combined with active US policy, creates the conditions for moving to the final phase of the conflict.

“I am not against Europe negotiating with Russia, especially now when the US is exerting pressure, and Europe has started to talk about security guarantees,”

— stated Volodymyr Zelensky.

At the same time, the president acknowledged that while the end of hostilities feels imminent, the exact scenario for ending the war remains uncertain.

“We are approaching the final stage, even if we do not yet know what it will be like,”

— added the Ukrainian leader.

It is also noted that Ukraine has submitted its comments on territorial proposals to the US and is awaiting Moscow's reaction to the updated peace plan by the end of the month.

Zelensky expressed the view that the war could end in 2026 but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining weapon reserves.

In the context of these statements, it is important to note that the international political arena is actively responding to Ukraine's calls regarding security. The anticipation of Moscow's reaction to the new peace plan and the activation of negotiations among European leaders indicate a desire to find paths to peace in the region. This underscores the necessity of continuing diplomatic dialogue for stability in Ukraine and Europe.
