Has passenger traffic increased after allowing men up to 22 years old to leave the country? Statement of the State Border Guard Service.
Situation with men's departure abroad
According to inkorr.com: The State Border Guard Service reported that permits for men aged 18 to 22 to leave the country did not result in a significant increase in the number of people crossing the border. The volume of passenger traffic remains stable, especially in the summer season when the total number of border crossings remains high, increasing on weekends.
According to statistics, the average number of people crossing the border on weekdays ranges from 125 to 135 thousand per day, while on Saturday and Sunday this figure reaches 150 thousand. In comparison, in the spring, this figure was only 75-80 thousand people daily.
Rules for leaving during martial law
The government has allowed men aged 18 to 22 to leave the country during martial law if they have a military registration document in paper or electronic format. This norm does not apply to individuals holding special positions in government structures — they can only leave for official business trips.
The majority of cases of illegal border crossing have been recorded in the west with Romania, while there is less activity at the border with Poland. The State Statistics Service also plans to conduct a population assessment of Ukraine by the end of the year, which is an important step in current conditions.
Thus, the situation with men's departure abroad remains controlled. The authorities continue to monitor passenger flow to avoid abuses. Conducting a population assessment in wartime conditions may also affect future policies regarding population mobility and conscription into the army.
