Easter Egg Prices Surge: What a Dozen Costs in Ukraine This March.
Sharp Rise in Chicken Egg Prices Ahead of Easter
According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, the cost of chicken eggs has climbed significantly as Easter approaches. As of March 21, 2026, the average price for a pack of category C1 eggs stands at 87 UAH, marking an increase compared to early March. At the start of the month, egg prices ranged between 82.23 and 83.95 UAH per dozen.
Data from major supermarkets reveals the following price variations for eggs:
- Silpo — 65.91 UAH
- Varus — 69.80 UAH
- Novus — 78.99 UAH
- Fora — 79.50 UAH
- Auchan — 72.90 UAH
- Metro — 79.50 UAH
- ATB — 80.60 UAH
- MegaMarket — 92.80 UAH
Compared to the same period last year, egg prices have risen by 13.45%.
Why Are Egg Prices Going Up?
In March 2025, a pack of eggs cost around 74.68 UAH, while the average monthly price in 2026 has settled at 84.73 UAH per dozen. Key drivers behind this price hike include energy system disruptions, as well as rising costs for animal feed and logistics.
The pre-Easter surge in egg prices reflects broader economic trends in Ukraine, where consumers are facing higher food costs. This can strain household budgets, especially during the holiday season when egg consumption traditionally increases. Given that both domestic and external factors continue to impact the agricultural sector, it is important to monitor further market developments closely.
