In 2024, potato prices sharply rose in Ukraine and in stores, reports 24 Kanal. According to the Institute of Agrarian Economy, by the beginning of December, potato prices stabilized due to imports. As of November 26, 2024, the average price of potatoes stood at 32.82 hryvnias per kilogram.
'This is twice as much as in 2023. Pink potatoes, which better retain their shape and have a denser texture, are 15% more expensive compared to yellow or white. Their price now is 37.64 hryvnias per kilogram,' noted Inna Salo.
One of the main reasons for the increase in potato prices this year is the drought and heat, which led to a shortage of quality harvest. This resulted in a market deficit, and together with food inflation, it caused prices to rise to high levels.
