Fuel Prices in Ukraine May Return to Pre-Iran Crisis Levels, Analysts Suggest.
Gasoline Price Surge
According to TSN.ua: Analysts indicate that gasoline and diesel prices in Ukraine could climb back to the levels seen before the recent events in Iran. This potential increase is attributed to rising costs for crude oil and gasoil. In early March, prices at Ukrainian filling stations rose by 5-7 hryvnias. For instance, on March 3rd, the price for A-95 gasoline reached nearly 81 UAH per liter, while diesel hit 74 UAH.
On March 5th, the Antimonopoly Committee initiated an inspection of fuel stations in response to the price hikes. The following day, on March 6th, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced that the Cabinet of Ministers would act to stabilize market prices. She stated:

Fuel Market Conditions
Expert Dmytro Liovushkin expressed the view that if the price of oil returns to a corridor around $60 per barrel, gasoline prices in Ukraine could also fall back to previous levels. 'Well, very close to those that were (50-60 UAH),' he noted. Therefore, the fuel market situation remains tense, with future price changes heavily dependent on global oil prices. Ukraine's fuel market is particularly sensitive to global energy shocks due to its reliance on imports.
The rise in Ukrainian fuel prices is driven not only by global oil market trends but also by domestic factors, including potential supplier speculation. The Antimonopoly Committee's inspection of fuel stations may indicate an attempt to control pricing policies and protect consumers from unjustified increases. Given the instability of world markets, it is crucial for Ukrainian consumers to monitor price changes and the government's response to the situation.
