Cucumber prices have soared by 33%: when will the price increase end

According to ТСН: Cucumber prices in Ukraine continue to rise due to a shortage of goods in the market: most domestic greenhouses have finished their season, while import supplies remain inconsistent.

As of today, the price of greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine ranges from 110 to 140 UAH/kg ($2.60 to $3.31). According to daily market monitoring, this is a fifth more compared to last week.

Reasons for the price increase

Analysts note that demand for cucumbers increased ahead of the New Year holidays after prices fell a week earlier. Market operators report that the supply of local vegetables remains limited. Most of the produce is supplied from Turkey, where price increases are also being recorded.

Experts predict further increases in prices for greenhouse vegetables in Ukraine due to the end of the season in most local greenhouses. This leads to almost complete dependence of the market on Turkish produce. Increased demand for vegetables ahead of the holidays further stimulates price growth.

Currently, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are sold at approximately 33% higher than in the same period last year.

It is worth noting that there have been earlier reports of price declines for cabbage in Ukraine. Against the backdrop of warm weather and an excess of produce, manufacturers are forced to urgently sell their stocks.

The rise in cucumber prices reflects market trends and seasonality in Ukrainian agronomy. Limited supplies and rising demand for vegetables indicate a need for producers to adapt to changing conditions. At this time, consumers should monitor prices for other vegetables, as the situation may change depending on weather conditions and seasonality.
