Putin commented on Zelensky's visit to Kupiansk: Why are you standing on the doorstep?.
According to ТСН: President of Russia Vladimir Putin expressed doubts about the visit of Vladimir Zelensky to Kupiansk, stating that this city is allegedly controlled by Russian troops, although they are not currently advancing to the west. Putin noted:
“Our (Russian troops - Ed.) control the city. They are not moving in the western direction yet, because they have an important task of eliminating the group on the left bank of the Oskil River and taking Kupiansk-Vuzloviy.”
Commenting on Zelensky's visit, Putin also characterized the Ukrainian leader as a “talented artist”:
“He is an artist and quite a talented one. I say this without any irony. The stele is standing a kilometer from Kupiansk. Why stand on the doorstep? Come into the house if Kupiansk is yours.”
Journalist Denis Kazansky emphasized that Putin himself is afraid to approach Kupiansk or the front in general, noting: “Grandpa, but you can’t even get to the threshold, you’re scared.”
This is not the first time Putin claims complete control of the occupiers over Kupiansk and Vovchansk in Kharkiv region. Recently, Commander Syrsky stated who actually controls these settlements.
On December 12, Zelensky arrived in Kupiansk, recording a video address to confirm that the city is not captured. He emphasized that his visit strengthened Kyiv’s position in negotiations.
Earlier, DeepState analysts reported on a successful operation by the Defense Forces in Kupiansk, where Ukrainian defenders blockaded the Russian garrison, cutting it off from the main forces, and cleared the northwestern outskirts of the city.
In the situation around Kupiansk, it is important to note that control over this territory remains a subject of intense disputes between Ukrainian and Russian military forces. Visits by Ukrainian high-ranking officials, such as Zelensky's trip, indicate the strategic importance of this city in the context of military operations in the region. If control over Kupiansk is maintained, Ukraine will strengthen its positions in further negotiations with Russia and improve the situation on the front.
