Ukraine condemns the presidential elections in Belarus that took place on January 26. This position was expressed by representatives of the European Parliament and the EU. They believe that these elections are not free and fair due to the repressive environment prevailing in Belarus.

The President of Ukraine expressed his concern regarding the circumstances of the elections, which were financed by dictator Lukashenko. He emphasized that the citizens of Belarus should have the right to a democratic choice of their leader. The opposition does not recognize the election results due to their falsification and the unrealistic conditions under which they took place.

Ukraine noted that voting in Belarus resembles a totalitarian regime and human rights violations. Moreover, Minsk has regained nuclear weapons that were previously provided by Moscow, although it had renounced them earlier. Ukraine believes that the issue of ensuring territorial integrity should be resolved within the framework of a peace agreement. Additionally, Kyiv may appeal to its allies for the provision of nuclear weapons similar to Belarus' 'Oreshnik'. The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that he is indifferent to whether the election results are recognized in the West.
