Denmark's Intelligence Reveals Trump's Plan for Greenland: What We Know About the US Operation.
Danish Spies Expose US Plans for Greenland
According to The Sun: Denmark has released information regarding a possible secret plan by the US, which, according to them, aims to incite protests against the Greenlandic government. This comes amidst Donald Trump's interest in acquiring the island.
Following the leak of intelligence reports, Copenhagen summoned the head of American diplomacy, as the matter involves a covert operation linked to territorial acquisition.
The Mega Agency APAccording to sources, US intentions in Greenland have been found to support a divide between separatists and unionists.

Sources related to this information claim that at least three Americans, linked to the Trump administration, may have participated in the operation, but no specific names have been mentioned.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated:
“We know that foreign actors continue to show interest in Greenland and its position within the Kingdom of Denmark.”He added:
“Therefore, it is not surprising if we witness attempts to influence the future of the Kingdom.”
The US President has repeatedly expressed a desire to acquire Greenland, and has not dismissed the possibility of using force to realize these intentions.
Greenland is a semi-autonomous Danish territorial entity, home to about 57 thousand people, and is known for its natural resources and strategic location in the Arctic.
The report noted that one American in the capital of Greenland was compiling a list of the indigenous population that supports US ambitions regarding the island.
The mission's objective was to attract those who advocate for Greenland's separation.
Two other Americans attempted to establish connections with local politicians, businessmen, and residents.
The exposure of the covert mission occurred after Vice President JD Vance's visit to Greenland in March, during which he had to cancel public state events due to protests.
Officials also scrapped plans for his wife's participation in dog sled racing.
Denmark even suspended the implementation of a large offshore wind farm project by Ørsted, raising concerns about American influence.
The Danish National Security Service warned that Greenland could become a target for influence campaigns, stating:
“Greenland, especially in the current situation, is a target for influence campaigns of various kinds.”
Why Does Trump Want Greenland?
Donald Trump first approached his advisers in 2019 with a proposal to consider purchasing Greenland. He claimed he wanted to acquire the territory due to its strategic location in case of escalating relations with Russia, although he acknowledged that it was not a priority for him.
In 2019, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had expressed his desire to buy Greenland several times, which is located between the North Atlantic and the Arctic.
In the days following Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, the question of Greenland became relevant again. At a press conference in January 2025, reporters asked him whether he could assure the world that he would not use military or economic efforts to control Greenland and the Panama Canal. Trump replied:
“No, I cannot promise you that.”
Greenland is rich in natural resources — it has oil, gas, gold, silver, copper, and uranium. The US has long regarded Greenland as a strategically important region and established a radar base in Thule as early as the Cold War.
Trump has always kept the option of using force to acquire Greenland open. Copenhagen and Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, categorically rejected Trump's offer, stating that the island is not for sale.
Denmark has also increased its defense spending in the Arctic to over 1.5 billion dollars, purchasing modern drones and vessels, as well as upgrading security facilities.

In January 2025, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated:
“I do not believe that fighting each other with financial means is a good path, when we are close allies and partners.”
Tensions increased after Trump's son visited Greenland in January, sparking new rumors about his father's serious intentions regarding the island. However, according to data provided by Greenland's foreign affairs department, this visit was unofficial and lasted only a few hours without scheduled official meetings.
In 1946, the US offered Denmark 100 million dollars for the purchase of Greenland and discussed the possibility of exchanging land in Alaska for strategic areas of the Arctic island.

Trump has never ruled out the possibility of using force to seize the island.
The secret US plans regarding Greenland open a new chapter in international relations, demonstrating how strategic interests can lead to unpredictable consequences. Given the wealth of natural resources on the island, it is no surprise that countries are trying to strengthen their positions in this important region.
Further monitoring of developments in the world and relations between states may provide more clarity, both on the political and economic fronts.
