He acknowledged Donald Trump as the US president and expressed his disappointment with the attitudes he perceives in America. According to Rutte,
“what I usually feel in the US is disappointment”.
Rutte also emphasized that European nations are fulfilling their commitments. He stated that
“European countries are doing what they promised”, underscoring their sense of responsibility in the realm of global security. Furthermore, he highlighted Europe's role as 'one big power projection platform for the United States,' pointing to the critical nature of transatlantic cooperation.

Notably, the United States has conducted approximately 5,000 sorties from European air force bases, demonstrating its military footprint on the continent. Rutte stressed that
“Europe is becoming the main shield of the continent against Russia”, which underscores the strategic importance of European security in today's world.
