The entertainment world is unsettled. Disney, one of the largest media conglomerates, has announced new layoffs in connection with increasing competition from streaming platforms. This is not the first instance of such large-scale cuts at the company, affecting various departments, not only film and television, but also marketing and other areas.
The threat of mass layoffs has also been noted by the International Labour Organization in Geneva. They warn that global trade tensions could lead to the loss of millions of jobs. This is an unfortunate signal for the economy of the entire world.
The numerous layoffs at Disney are merely one link in the overall picture of problems in the modern global labor market and indicate that companies need to seek new avenues in the face of intensified competition.
