Border Threats Persist in Chernihiv Region Despite Decline in Sabotage Group Activity.
Sabotage Activity Drops, but Border Risks Remain High
According to Novyny.live: While sabotage and reconnaissance groups have reduced their operations in Chernihiv Oblast, the danger of their infiltration into Ukrainian territory continues. Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported that traces of subversive activity—including planted explosive devices—are still being detected along certain sections of the frontier.
According to border service data, over 800 individuals attempting to cross illegally were detained in June alone. The decrease in sabotage group movements does not eliminate the ongoing threat of incursions.
“The number of attempts to illegally cross the border remains steady,” Andriy Demchenko stated.
He also stressed that no systemic denials of entry have been recorded for Ukrainian citizens crossing into Poland. This indicates that border guards are maintaining effective control despite current challenges. As a result, the situation in Chernihiv region remains under management, even amid persistent security risks.
