The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaliy Koval, reported that Ukrainian farmers receive assistance from abroad, although it is significantly less compared to other sectors.

He stated this during a comment to Ukrinform at the 'Green Week' exhibition in Berlin.

'The funds provided to farmers as subsidies are very limited. Ukrainians are a nation of farmers who do not ask for this assistance; they know how to earn themselves,' Koval noted.

According to him, in 2024, the European Union allocated about 20 million euros to support small farming enterprises in Ukraine. Farmers who cultivate up to 120 hectares of land received a subsidy of 8,000 hryvnias per hectare.

'This is a very modest amount compared to the billions received by others. However, it indicates support and coexistence of Europe with Ukrainian farmers,' he emphasized.

Koval also thanked the World Bank, USAID, UK Aid, and other projects and embassies for their assistance. He noted that he actively cooperates with FAO, UNIDO, and other organizations that support farmers, especially in frontline areas.

He mentioned that Ukraine, through its products, ensures food security. He highlighted that Ukrainian farmers will work to become more predictable for the European Union so that it does not fear them as a large agricultural country but sees them as a partner.

'Today we are engaged in dispelling myths concerning the Ukrainian agricultural sector: the quality of our products, their volume, impact on the markets... By using figures, analysis, and Eurostat data, we gradually debunk these myths,' he noted.

The head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy stressed that Ukraine is a leader in addressing the global food and food security issue, and that global farmers should see it as a partner rather than a threat.
